How to Forward Your Business Calls to AnswerHero

5 MIN READ

You signed up for AnswerHero… now what? Well, first we’d like to welcome you and let you know that we’re excited to have you and we appreciate your business!

Before our receptionists can start answering on your behalf, you need to point your phone in the right direction. That’s where call forwarding comes in, and it’s a lot simpler than it sounds. No IT team required. No new phone number. No equipment to install. In most cases, it’s just a short dial code entered directly from your phone.

This guide walks you through exactly how to do it, broken down by carrier, so you can get up and running as soon as possible.

First, Decide How You Want to Forward

Before you dial anything, it helps to know which type of forwarding fits the way you work and how you’re having us answer your calls. What we mean by this is; some of our customers only need us for after-hours or on weekends, while other customers use us their 24/7 answering service.

There are three options when it comes to how you can forward your calls and most carriers support all of them:

Always Forward sends every incoming call directly to AnswerHero, regardless of whether you’re available. This is the simplest set-up and great for customers who want us handling all calls no matter the time of day or night, or if you’re going to be away for an extended period of time.

No-Answer Forwarding only kicks in when you don’t pick up within a few rings. This forwarding option is what our customers who only use us for after-hours or weekends use.

Busy Forwarding routes calls to AnswerHero when your line is already in use. It prevents overflow calls from ever hitting voicemail, which matters a lot if you’re a one person operation or a busy medical practice that gets multiple calls at a time and need to focus on the patient in front of them.

To turn off forwarding, dial *73.

If these steps don’t work on your line, contact Verizon directly – availability can vary depending on your account type and plan.

Vonage

To forward all calls, dial *72, enter your AnswerHero number, and press 1 to confirm.

To turn off forwarding, dial *73.

Tip: Vonage also lets you manage forwarding through your online account, so no dial codes are needed. Log into your Vonage portal and look for call settings to configure it from there.

What Happens Once Call Forwarding is Active?

Once your calls are forwarding to AnswerHero, our live receptionists will answer using your custom greeting and follow the call handling instructions whether that be basic message taking, full legal or medical intake, and/or scheduling appointments. Call summaries and messages are sent to you through your preferred method you’ve set up: email, text, or your AnswerHero portal.

Your callers will never know that they are talking to a receptionist who is not physically in your office. We truly become an extension of your business and flow perfectly with your front of house operations.

Still Need Help?

If forwarding isn’t working after following the steps for your correct carrier, a few things to check:

  • Make sure you’re dialing the code correctly, without extra spaces or pauses (on Boost Mobile and Sprint in particular, the number should follow the code directly).
  • Some provider plans require call forwarding to be enabled on the account level before dial codes will work. A quick call to your carrier can confirm this.
  • If you’re not sure what your AnswerHero forwarding number is, log into your customer portal or contact our customer care team and they can assist you.
