The Customer Service Group has sponsored National Customer Service Week since 1991, and in 1992, the U.S. Congress officially recognized it as a national event, held every year during the first full week of October. This year (2026), that’s October 5-9. More than 60 countries now observe some version of the week, and thousands of organizations take part in celebrating, spanning finance, healthcare, insurance, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, nonprofits, education, and government.
The point of the celebration is not to sell more. It’s used to recognize everyone who provides customer service. That includes the technician on a service call, the cashier handling a return, and anyone else who work shapes how a customer experiences a company, and to remind the rest of the business that service is a function worth investing in, not a cost center to minimize.
At AnswerHero, this week is very personal. Our business goal has never been complicated: every call, from every industry, handled with the best possible customer service, by a receptionist who treats the caller like they matter. That’s true whether you run a dental office, a law firm, a property management company, or an HVAC business, and it’s true at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday or 2 a.m. on a holiday, because our receptionists answer calls 24/7/365.
We’ve also spent the last few years building toward something bigger than a traditional answering service. With new technology and services, we’re now a more complete virtual front desk, covering call answering, appointment scheduling, message taking, lead intake, and outbound calls for confirmations and surveys, all connected to the CRM and EHR systems businesses already use. Whether that’s one of our human receptionists, an AI receptionist, or a hybrid of both, the goal is always the same: help businesses of every size level up their customer service without having to build a call center of their own.
Customer Service Week is also a chance to recognize the people who make AnswerHero’s model work: our receptionists. Every call they take, whether it’s a routine appointment or a frustrated customer, gets the same level of attention and professionalism.
Our receptionists train continuously, not just once at an onboarding, to stay sharp on call handling, industry-specific knowledge, and the kind of service that makes a caller feel heard. That ongoing training is how they show up as the best version of themselves on every call, every time, in whatever language or industry the conversation calls for.
This week, we’re taking a moment to say thank you to them for the work they do, in the background, every single day.
One week of recognition is a good start, but the businesses that win on service treat it as a year-found habit, not an October event. We feel the same way: we’re grateful for the industries that trust us with their calls year-round, and for the receptionists who answer them.
