We just got back from the 2026 GLTSA Annual Conference in Detroit, this year’s gathering for the Great Lakes TeleServices Association, and one of the biggest events of our industry. We had a great time seeing our friends and colleagues from answering services all around the U.S., and we learned a lot. A. few themes stood out, especially how much more answering services are doing these days beyond just picking up the phone. Here’s what we took away, and how it lines up with where AnswerHero has been heading.
The conversations at GLTSA 2026 kept coming back to the same idea: customers expect their answering service to handle more than messages. That means tighter integrations, faster handoffs, and more of the process, not just the call, running smoothly in the background. Technology is part of how that happens, but the real shift is in what’s expected: an answering service isn’t just a phone line anymore, it’s expected to plug into how a business actually runs. That’s exactly the shift we’ve been building AnswerHero around.

We didn’t start out building any of this. AnswerHero began as a plain 24/7 answering service: pick up the phone, take a message. Over time, that’s turned into a full 24/7/365 virtual front desk doing call answering, appointment scheduling, message taking, lead intake, integrations, and more, delivered through live bilingual receptionists, an AI receptionist, or a Hybrid of both. Every version of this runs around-the-clock because the whole point is that a call never goes unanswered, allowing businesses to “always be open,” even if their office is only open nine to five. What’s changed is everything we can now do with that call once it comes in.
More receptionists alone wouldn’t get us here, the software behind them is what makes the harder stuff possible. We’ve built deep integrations with the CRM and EHR platforms our customers already use, so a call doesn’t just end as a message, it can update a record, book an appointment, or do full legal and medical intake. Outbound calling takes it one step further: confirmations, scheduling calls, survey work, employee surveys, or political surveys, whatever the customer needs, the kind of thing that used to eat up someone’s actual workday. The idea is simple: AnswerHero absorbs that complexity so our customers don’t have to.

If there was one thing GLTSA 2026 made clear, it’s that the companies pulling ahead are the ones making life easier for their customers, not just more answering calls faster. That’s the direction we’re leaning into. Whether you’re already an AnswerHero customer or you’re considering us, you’ll get everything you’d expect from an in-house front desk, and then some, for a more affordable price, plus 24/7/365 and bilingual coverage so you can help more callers at any hour of the day or night.
